Song of Solomon Reflection

The most challenging part of reading Song of Solomon is keeping track of what happened and when it did. Throughout Song of Solomon, there are many flashbacks from many different people and it hard to keep everything in order. On top of that many of character have the same flashback but a different perspective of that flashback. For example, Macon the second and Ruth flashback on her father’s death, Macon and Ruth memories on the subject were very different from each other. Now the reason why it is difficult to keep everything in order is that if u browse over the text you may miss the indicating if the previous passage was a flashback or a time gap.

The way I tried to solve this problem rereading chapters, annotioning and creating a timeline for the book. This helped me make sure I knew what was happening and when it was happening. In turn giving me a deeper understanding of the plot and the characters. In my annotated page I thoroughly noted that this was Pilate’s and Ruth’s past together and when died this occur and why. This allowed to to understand how Milkman was born and now Ruth kinda got Macon the Second back for a brief period of time.

Broken DEA Policies

On June 2, 2018, Gus Tousis, a cocaine dealer, was shot and killed by a DEA agent. However, the justification for the shooting was fishy. The agent who shot Tousis claimed that Tousis rammed his truck into him and he shot back in self-defense. What’s fishy is that his car didn’t sustain any damage and that there is little information on the injuries of the agent. The current article describes the family demanding answers and the DEA policy, which states that an agent can shoot if the agent thinks the vehicle “poses an imminent danger of death or serious physical injury to the officer or to another person.”(DEA policy, Keilman). This is different from police policies, which require police officers to get out of the way if they can. Should the DEA policy about shooting into cars be changed?

My family

My father’s full name is James Fang Yuan, James was the name he took when he came over to America. His original name was Fang Yuan, he got his name from his great grandfather and his last was a lineage name which unlike my mother who had a clan name. My father came over to America during the 1980s and came over to the Chicagoland area because he had both friends and siblings living in this area. Since he is Chinese, the place was populated by Asian people and he himself is pretty traditional and most of the food, music, and literature are mainly Chinese. However, do celebrate some American holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving but the rest of the holidays we celebrate are Chinese. But overall many of traditions have been satisfied when he had children, for example, he had to give up ping pong and playing the Chinese flute when I was born. STOP UNDERAGE JUULING

Juuls are electronic cigarettes, however, unlike most vapes, Juuls are sleek and have a flash drive appearance and shape. The original intent of Juuls was to help smokers shift from cigarettes to e-cigarettes, and their sleek, portable nature would be similar to carrying a cigarette as compared to a vape pen.
